Lucas notices girls now! He has always noticed the girls he is around, but not this time! We had to run in the store Friday afternoon before we picked Jake up from school. Since I drive a bus now, I can not park very close to the door, so we parked down one of the aisles. A car pulled in after us and parked right at the door...
Walking up towards the door, Lucas notices a little girl getting out of that car. The look on his face was priceless!
Lucas, "Mommy hurry up!"
Me, "OK, I'm coming."
We get in the store and the girl and her mother are still outside.
Lucas, "Mommy, did you see that girl?"
Me, "Yes."
Lucas, "I really like her hair cut." He meant he liked her hair, I don't know why he says that.
Me, "You did? Do you like girls with brown hair?"
Lucas, "Yes and with long hair, like that girl."
We do our shopping, then we end up on the meat aisle with them...
Lucas (whispering with his hand up to block one side of his mouth) "Mommy, there she is."
Me, "I know, I see her."
Lucas, "She is so pretty."
Me, "Yes Lucas she is pretty."
It wasn't a great conversation, but if you could have seen his face while he was telling me this! I was looking into a teenage boys face that had just seen what they thought was the most beautiful woman in the world. It was hilarious!
It is very weird too, Jacob has never said anything like that about girls, just different kids I guess!

Mother's Day
Today is Mother's Day(not technically, but I haven't been to bed yet!) and I have to say that it has not been the best one. Jason and the kids were great. Jacob actually gave me a kiss! I can not remember the last time he has kissed me, I sometimes get a hug out of him, but not often.
Last year since Jason was going to be gone on Mother's Day we brought gifts to my mom, his mom and his grandma about 10 days before. Since it was so long before, I thought nothing of his mom and grandma saying nothing to me, the mother of their grand-kids. Well Mother's Day came and nothing. By the way, I am used to them forgetting me, they call me a week late to wish me a happy birthday or us a happy anniversary every year, even though it has been 10 years and they should know these dates. A year later and they never said anything about it, neither did I. Today being Mother's Day and Jason being home, we go out there today with gifts. Guess what? Nothing for Kathy! I do not need or want them to buy me anything, Jason got me the only thing I wanted! They could at least say Happy Mother's Day, or something. Also, we even got Jason's aunt something because her own kids do not, and she said thanks and that was it! If I were talking to my mother, I would have gotten dinner, a card-whether she made it or bought it, and some crappy dollar store candle, but she would have acknowledged me. Is it wrong of me to want some acknowledgement?
Jason and I had to go buy these gifts today, you know that my middle name is procrastination! We took all three kids in Wal-Mart, it was absolutely the stupidest thing I have ever done! It would not have been bad if I were just going in for gifts, but we needed groceries...
On Wednesday Jason bought me the Twilight movie and soundtrack. Lucas has said that he wants to watch it every time it goes off, so I was surprised when I tried to take it out of the DVD player that it had not been melted in! I have not been able to just sit and watch it without being interrupted, ahhh the joys of having kids! So, on our way home I asked Jason to please keep the kids entertained while I sat and watched the movie in peace. He had them cleaning their room and watched it with me. I had to stop it ever so often because I was cooking at the same time, but I ended up falling asleep and still haven't seen it in it's entirety! Now I am just wondering when this day will ever end!
Even though my day did not turn out to be some fairy tale, I still enjoyed parts of the day! I also enjoy being a mother. A few days ago the kids and Jason were getting to me, and I actually said that I was done with this being a mommy thing, but I really could not imagine myself doing anything else. I think that I need those smelly little boys in my life as much as they need me. I have bad days, every mother telling the truth does. Motherhood is not a fairy tale. Motherhood is stricken with constant guilt and worry. If you say or do one thing wrong, does it mean that you have completely messed up? Motherhood gives no time to being stingy anymore. Not stingy as in not sharing a toy, but sometimes I do not want to go out in the rain, and if I did not have kids I would not, but now I have to because someone needs something, like milk, or they want to go to Sonic. Sometimes I think that my children are inconsiderate because I never get asked if I want to do whatever it is they want to do, but they are just children, and they haven't had to give up their stinginess just yet. I do what they are doing, and most of the time I have fun! Being a stay at home mom is NOT a glamorous job. I get so annoyed with people that think stay at home moms do nothing all day but watch soaps. Yeah right! First of all if I get to watch something during the day, it involves weird colored animals and theme songs for everything and usually comes on Nick or Disney. Staying at home means that your entire house gets destroyed 10-15 times a day, depending on how many times you pick it up so they can drag it all back out! You get to do about 3 times the normal amount of dishes because someone can not use the same cup for milk and then juice, and then milk again. You get to spend an hour vacuuming floors because the night before someone walked through the whole house in cleats, and the dog sheds everywhere, just to have them come in at the end of the day covered in mud!
BUT, it is the most wonderful job I have ever had! Where else could I see everything my kids do for the first time. I have been able to see the first steps, see them rocking on their knees and finally figuring out how to crawl, hear that first muttering that turns out to be their first word. I get to go to every school function. I get to make up games. I get to turn music way up and just dance around the living room with them. Being a mom is the most stressful thing I will ever do, but I know that it is the only thing I ever want to do. They only have one childhood and I do not want it to be less than perfect for them. This has been a very stressful Mother's Day for me, I have not been in the best mood for the past couple of weeks. I did not want this to be a fake post about how wonderful motherhood is all of the time, blah blah blah. These are my true feelings this M.D. Take them or leave them. I love those boys more than anything in this world, and the only thing that matters is that they know that.
I do not need my mother in law or anyone else to say Happy Mother's Day to me, it only matters coming from the kids. They both put their arms around my neck kissed me and told me that I was the best mom in the world. That is the only thing a mom needs on Mother's Day.
